Before The Morning

JW_FINAL cover

Josh Wilson’s new single is called “Before The Morning”. It’s a really special song! Here’s what it’s all about…
“Before the Morning” is a song about hope.  It’s inspired by my dear friends, Tim and Paula Beal.  5 months into their pregnancy, Tim and Paula went to the doctor to find out if their baby was a boy or a girl.  The doctor told them he was a boy, and then he went on to tell them that there were only 2 valves in his heart (instead of 4), and his kidneys and lungs were not functioning.  He said that their only option was abortion.  Because of the depth of his complications, no doctor would touch Jayken because he could never survive the dialysis machine during heart surgery.  The Beals were also told that due to the extent of the problems, they would soon be digging their way into a financial pit that would ruin their marriage.

Tim and Paula went home and prayed.  They fasted.  They asked everyone they knew to pray and fast with them.  They knew they needed to trust in the Lord, because he was the One that “knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).

On January 11th, 2002, Jayken was born.  The doctors said he had a 2% chance of living longer than four days.  By the grace of God, Jayken is now seven years old.  After three heart surgeries, many sleepless nights, and countless financial struggles, the Beals are still believing a day at a time in a Savior who won’t let them go.  They are learning what it means to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

Tim told me that “the odds have never been in Jayken’s favor, but God is so faithful.”  The Beals are living proof that no matter what our circumstances are, God can work anything out for our good and His glory.

This album is entitled “Life Is Not A Snapshot.”  If you took a snapshot of a particular moment in the Beal’s life, it might look like there isn’t a lot of hope for them.  But sickness and struggles are not the end of the story for those who know Jesus.  We believe in a God who saves.  We believe in a God who heals.  At the end of every email I receive from Tim, he writes “fighting the fight until I see His face.”

We believe in the Bigger Picture.

No matter what you may be struggling with, know that “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18).  Our pain and struggles are very real, but they are only the dark before the morning.

This song is for Jayken David.  His name means “Victory through grace for God’s beloved.”

If you don’t have the album yet, you need to go check it out. She’ll be all over the place for the next two weeks on a wild album release tour.

We kicked off the week with The Fish in Nashville. Britt performed at Opry Mills Mall for Music At The Mills. Great crowd! Thanks to 94fm The Fish for putting on a great event.

Yesterday, she performed in Denver…the place was PACKED! From what we’ve heard there were so many people trying to meet Britt after the event that it was almost impossible for her to get out of there to catch her plane. She had to sneak out the back of the venue! Crazy. Denver rules! Thanks to WAY-FM and Jeff Connell for pulling together an amazing event!

This morning, Britt was live on K-LOVE and AIR1 radio networks. K-LOVE is doing a HUGE “Where In The World Is Britt Nicole” promotion this week. Check it out here. Whether you’re already a fan of Matthew West, or you’re looking for a new favorite album, Matthew West’s SOMETHING TO SAY is a great pick!  Thanks to Amazon.com Matthew is giving you the chance to download the record for one day only for $2.99

Kay downloaded SOMETHING TO SAY at Amazon.com and here’s what she had to say about the album:

“It has the honest and sincere lyrics and catchy melodies that he’s done so well in the past, but his message is even stronger (listen to “The Motions”, it’s a wake up call). With that being said, this is a great album from an artist who really does have ‘something to say’…and it’s worth the listen.”

Be sure to spread the word to friends and family who could use some encouragement and inspiration today!

Matthew West, “The Motions” and NASCAR

“The Motions” from Matthew West has connected with folks all over the place. The song is a challenge to make your life matter…to give everything you’ve got. To, well, stop going through the motions. It’s been a huge song…currently in it’s 13th week as the #1 song in all of Christian radio! Now, the song has broken into the world of sports…NASCAR to be specific.

Veteran driver Mark Martin was recently profiled and guess what song showed up in the piece? “The Motions”. Yup. Matthew West and NASCAR.

Here’s the video…

Drop Matthew a comment on his brand new site…matthewwest.com

The only thing cooler than his song in a NASCAR piece would be if the Chicago Cubs organization played the song every day prior to games. OR if it worked it’s way into a Sportscenter piece on the plight of the Cubs. It’s a message that the team desparately needs. Seriously…they’ve never won the big one. They need to stop going through the motions. We know Matthew loves his Cubs…maybe it’s time we sent the team his song.

What do you think?

Story behind “The Lost Get Found” from Britt Nicole

Britt Nicole on the road

Britt-Nicole-The-Lost-Get-Found
Hey everyone! It’s Josh and I’ve been on the road all this week with Britt Nicole. She’s amazing and it’s been a blast driving around from radio station to radio station this week. Her new album The Lost Get Found is finally done! It releases on August 11. She’s been working SO hard on this album and it sounds incredible…can’t WAIT for you all to hear it!

We’ve had a great week so far. On Monday, we started out in Johnson City, TN with the folks from WCQR. Brian Sumner is the MAN. Why? He took us to the sweetest restaurant for lunch. It’s call Cootie Brown’s. Yup. Cootie Brown’s. It was amazing!

From there we headed to Asheville, NC to hang with Tom Green from 106.9 The Light. We met up at The Cove where the station’s offices are located. We saw a lot of radio history (which was sweet if you’re a radio nerd like me…and I’m sure you’re not). We weren’t sure where we were gonna eat dinner so we thought we’d set out on an adventure into downtown Asheville…an eclectic place that Tom admitted he never hangs out in. We wanted to try Tupelo Honey Cafe but it was closed so after wandering around in 95 degree temps (adventure) we found The Flying Frog Cafe. The menu had everything from curry to marinara pasta…even pulled pork sandwiches. We tried Indian appetizers and Tom ordered the BBQ pulled pork. “This is the BEST pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had” is what he said. Score!

This morning we started out on-air with Darren, Verne and Tammy from WBFJ in Winston-Salem, NC. They’ve been so supportive of Britt’s music. It was a blast hanging with them! She played a few songs live…”The Lost Get Found” and “Safe”. No matter how little she sleeps on the road, the girl sounds AMAZING when she sings! It was really cool to see.

Finally, we ended the day in Charlotte, NC hanging with the staff of New Life 91.9. Britt recorded an interview with Eric and Erica from the Afternoon Show. It’ll air next week during the morning show (so keep checkin’ New Life 91.9’s website!)

Here are a few pics from the road…
